What is OrgPublisher Web Administration?
The OrgPublisher with Web Administration (Enterprise Edition) runs as an ActiveX control that accesses files and data on a web server and works much like standard OrgPublisher. OrgPublisher with Web Administration is installed to a web server and is accessed through a web page. You can access OrgPublisher from your laptop or at home without having OrgPublisher installed on that PC.

You can create new charts or open existing charts. Because all chart files must exist on the web server, administrators can open any chart from any workstation. OrgPublisher works much the same in Web Administration as it does on the desktop - you can build, format, print, and publish charts.

Note:
The OrgPublisher Web Administration Server allows you to publish charts manually. You can, however, open the desktop OrgPublisher version and schedule the publishing definition in the Publish charts dialog using the Web Administration SourceCharts folder.

Accessing OrgPublisher Web Administration
OrgPublisher Web Administration is installed on a server. The installer creates a PublishedCharts and a SourceCharts. The network administrator creates authorization to these folders for anyone who needs access. Once this is done, a link is provided to anyone who has been granted access to the folders. The link points to the opadmin.htm for Web Administration access. (Installation information is included in the online help file within OrgPublisher.)

Using OrgPublisher Web Administration
  1. Use the link provided by the OrgPublisher installer to access Web Administration.

  2. The first time you access Web Administration, the Active X component will be installed automatically on your PC. You may be prompted (in the sample below) to accept this installation.

You may also see an installation completion monitor running.

  3. Once the install is complete, the Select a Chart to Open dialog opens and you can see OrgPublisher running in your browser window. If appropriate, you can select a chart and click Open.

  2. To import a chart, click the Import button Import button. The Import OrgPublisher Chart dialog opens.

    Note:
ODB files must be recreated on the server to point to correct drivers and database or they may not import.

  3. Type or Browse to the location of the chart you want to import, then click Import. The chart displays in the Select a Chart to Open dialog.

Locked Charts
OrgPublisher Web Administration allows multiple users to access and modify charts stored in a common area of the server. To view the status of a chart, use the scroll button at the bottom of the Select a Chart to Open dialog.

Columns in the far right of the dialog indicate the date and time the chart was locked, and by whom.
Read-Only Charts
If a chart is locked, you can still open it as read-only. Select the chart in the Select a Chart to Open dialog, and then click Open. The following message gives you the option to Open Read-Only to continue or Cancel.

Publishing a Chart
OrgPublisher Web Administration allows you to manually publish charts.

Note:
If you are accessing OrgPublisher via Web Administration (application is installed on the server), then the Schedules tab will not appear.

The following steps would be used in Web Administration.
  1. Log on the server as an admin or power user.
  2. Open the desktop OrgPublisher application. (If default install is used, it would be in c:/program files/orgpubx).
  3. Open the chart (found in the SourceCharts folder).
  4. Schedule the publishing definition in OrgPublisher using the Schedule tab following the instructions in the Create an Automatic Publishing Scedule procedure.

Also, when you are publishing to ECharts, you must manually schedule the .BAT file created in the first manual publishing. To do this, open the Task Scheduler on the server to add the .BAT job.
